Overview
In 1912 Knowles Produce & Trading Company was established by selling 500 shares of stock to local businessmen and farmers. The business began as a feed mill that dealt in potatoes and sugar beets, hence the name “Knowles Produce”. Horse drawn wagons brought in crops and took coal home.
In 1917 the International Harvester farm equipment line was added. Along with farm supplies, the business also sold tv’s and appliances. Over the years Knowles Produce was known as a one stop shop for many local customers.
In the 1980’s Ag Bag feed storage equipment was added to the product line. Since inception, Knowles Produce has been a leader in machine sales with a dedicated parts and service staff. Also the original Kawasaki Mule UTV line gave the company a new niche.
The local Sterr family has been part of the management team ironically from 1912 to today. However, the business remains a stock held corporation. For over 100 years we have focused on giving premium service to our customers.
